The student ministry consists of separate Middle School and High School youth programs, with 45-50 students in each one. We have a small group based model with 19 adult leaders.
Key core values and strategies of our youth ministry:
- We love youth just as they are and at the same time we are also unapologetically evangelical, and intentional about discipleship. We teach that the Word of God is true and that it can be trusted and is applicable to our lives today.
- We are a youth ministry that reaches out into the community. By God’s grace and through the dedicated and faithful work of many adult leaders, we have a healthy youth ministry with a positive reputation in the community. Approximately 25-30% of our students are not from Christ Church.
- We seek to help students trust Jesus with their life and then to learn what it means to follow him as their Lord and Savior. We consistently challenge students to move from fan to follower.
- Small groups are the delivery system. Our ministry is built on a small group model with two adult leaders leading for each group of students. In reality faith is caught as much as it’s taught, and that happens best in small groups where relationships can more easily form and discussions can get more personal and go deeper.
- We teach students that Jesus wants to reach the world through them! We purposely give students lots of opportunities to step out in faith and experience God working through them. Our annual summer mission trip is one example. It regularly draws 50-60 High School students and adults and is a major discipleship and leadership development engine.
- We teach students that they can be ministers – right now. We are very intentional about student leadership development. Some current examples include: the Youth Worship team, Middle School mentors, High School students running Super Summer Serve and giving the talks at the Middle School retreat, and High School and Middle School students serving as leaders in Sunday School and VBS.
- We believe our role is to partner with parents and to help foster their role of as the nurturer of faith in their children.
- We also believe that there is always room to innovate and grow! There is room for improvement and new ideas. We are looking for someone who can build on the current strengths while creatively expanding the reach and impact of this ministry.
